Diane Fagerstrom became a dedicated barbershopper straight out of high school in 1973 – graduating on a Saturday and beginning rehearsals with the newly formed Chair City Pipers on Thursday. Diane was a member before the chapter was even formally chartered! Over time, Diane assumed the role of Assistant Director and then Front-Line Director with the Chair City Pipers of Gardner, Massachusetts. She has also served as the Assistant Director with the Women of Note of Hudson, Massachusetts and assumed similar responsibilities with New England Voices in Harmony in 2010. It should come as no surprise that in addition to her directorial gifts, Diane is a skilled singer. She has sung in many talented women’s quartets. In fact, as a member of the quartet known as Heartsong, Diane earned second place medals in the International Contests of both 1993 and 1994. Diane shares the love of barbershop harmony with her daughter, Carey, who is also a member of New England Voices in Harmony.
